If God Is with Me… Why Am I Going Through This?

A woman sits on a sunlit wooden floor in a dimly lit room, head down, creating a somber mood. Light filters through a window, casting shadows.

I heard a powerful teaching from Nancy Dufresne on 1 Peter 1:5-7, and it shook me—in the best way. It reminded me that no matter how loud symptoms scream, no matter how heavy life feels, no matter how hopeless a situation looks, God is keeping you.  That teaching pushed me into the Word, and the more I read, the more I realized—there is supernatural protection over every child of God who chooses to walk by faith.

I'll drop her video link below—please watch it when you can. I pray it strengthens you the way it did me. And I truly hope you’ll follow Nancy too—her ministry walks in weight, clarity, and power. She doesn’t just preach healing and faith—she lives it.

Let me tell you what the Word says—not feelings, not reports, not what’s been happening to you—but what God’s unbreakable, unchangeable Word declares:

"You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trials so that the proven character of your faith—more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."

You Are Being Guarded by God's Power

Again....1 Peter 1:5 says:

You are being protected by God's power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

That word “protected” comes from the Greek phroureō, and it literally means to build a military fortress around, to surround like armed guards at a gate. That means when the enemy tries to rush in with fear, sickness, financial lack, family division, emotional torment, or pressure that won't let up—he still has to get through God’s power to touch you.

You may be in the trial—but you’re not exposed. You’re not alone. You are being kept, shielded, and encased by a power that cannot be overthrown. This is not passive protection. It’s violent defense by divine authority.

Your Trial Is a Refining Furnace—Not a Funeral

1 Peter 1:6-7 continues:

“Now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the proven character of your faith—more valuable than gold which perishes though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Here’s the truth: God isn’t letting you suffer because He’s distant or indifferent. He’s allowing refinement, because what He’s working in you is eternal.

🔥 Fire doesn't destroy gold—it reveals its purity.🔥
A face in a vintage mirror is enveloped by flames. The background is textured with yellow and red hues. Text on the right is partially visible.

The flames make the dross rise to the surface. The goldsmith knows it's ready when he can see his own reflection. This alone preaches! Glory to God.

Dross is the impurity or waste material that rises to the surface when metal—especially gold or silver—is melted by fire. Dross represents the junk in us—fear, pride, doubt, bitterness, offense, self-reliance, worry—anything that doesn’t belong in a vessel God wants to use.

When we go through fiery trials, it feels intense, but it’s in that heat that things we didn’t even know were in us start to rise to the surface. God, the Master Refiner, doesn’t waste that fire. He uses it to show us the dross, and then—if we let Him—He’ll remove it, making us purer, stronger, and more like Jesus.

Proverbs 25:4 says:

“Take away the dross from the silver, and the smith has material for a vessel.

That means: Once the junk is removed, you’re ready to be shaped into something useful.

So when you feel the fire, don’t fear it. God’s not punishing you—He’s refining you. Because you’re more than gold to Him.

God is after His image in you—not in theory, but in demonstration. The fire doesn’t mean you’re being punished. It means you’re being proven, like forged steel. And you will come out of this stronger, sharper, cleaner, with nothing wasted.

Gold Is Not Just Pretty—It’s Powerful and Useful

You are called more precious than gold, and that matters—because gold isn’t just symbolic. It’s everywhere in our daily lives:

  • Gold is used in phones, laptops, and medical equipment—it’s the silent conductor powering critical systems.

  • It’s resistant to rust, doesn’t corrode, doesn’t decay, and it stays unchanged in pressure and time.

  • It’s soft enough to shape, but strong enough to last.

  • It’s used in dentistry, satellites, technology, and currency.

Gold is not passive. It’s present, dependable, and essential. That’s you. You are more than all that in God's eyes.

When God says your faith is “more precious than gold,” He’s not complimenting you—He’s commissioning you. He’s saying: I’ve placed something in you that is as foundational, as durable, and as costly as gold—but even more eternal.

Your Problems Are Not Pointless—They’re Proving Grounds

Let’s be real—maybe you're:

  • Sick in bed and tired of fighting.

  • Bound to a hospital with a thousand questions.

  • Wrestling with family division, betrayal, or misunderstanding.

  • Overwhelmed by bills, weary in your job, or broken by something that didn’t go how you hoped.

And it all feels like it's happening to you.

But God is working in you.

He sees your tears—but He also sees your faith. And He values your faith more than gold. Why? Because faith has eternal consequences. It touches the unseen realm. It moves mountains. It pleases God. It refuses to bow when the fire rages.

James 1:2-4 says:

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

The Result: Praise, Glory, and Honor

1 Peter 1:7 doesn’t say your trial ends in despair. It says it ends in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Silhouette of a person standing before a large grass fire under a smoky, twilight sky. The dramatic scene feels intense and foreboding.

That’s not just future glory in heaven—it’s right-now revelation of Christ in you, the hope of glory. That means you walk through the fire, but you don’t smell like smoke. You walk through the flood, but you’re not swept away. Why? Because you have the Man of Fire walking with you in the furnace.

Isaiah 43:2 says:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you... when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

You’re not stuck—you’re being shaped. Youre not broken—you’re being built. You’re not overlooked—you’re being refined.

The World Is Watching—And Your Faith Is Preaching

The world doesn’t need to see polished faith. It needs to see proven faith. Faith that still believes when the doctor doesn’t know. Faith that still rejoices when nothing makes sense. Faith that still praises while waiting.

You are living out a testimony right now—and it's not weak.
It's fire-tested, heaven-backed, and hell-shaking.

Live in Your Trial by Faith

Don’t quit. Don’t fold. Don’t curse your season.

Rejoice—not because of the pain, but because of the purpose. Speak—not what you feel, but what He promised. Walk—not in fear, but in the fear of the Lord.

You're not going under. You're going through. And when the fire lifts, you'll be standing—pure as gold, full of faith, dripping with glory, ready for the next level.

So the next time you’re struggling—don’t stay silent.

A woman in a red dress kneels in a dim room, bathed in a beam of light from above. The mood is dramatic and hopeful. Text is on the wall.

When symptoms rise up and pain screams louder than peace, say it out loud:

“I am kept by God’s power!”

When your bank account doesn’t line up and the ends just won’t meet, say:

“I am kept by God’s power!”

When grief is too heavy to carry, say:

“I am kept by God’s power!”When your marriage is under pressure, speak it out loud:

“No! Our marriage is kept by the power of God!”

You must refute what the enemy throws at you. You must be the one with the final word. Never—ever—let the devil have the last say. The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17), and it must come out of your mouth, not just sit on the page.

So find you a verse for your fight and
speak it until the atmosphere shifts:

Fighting Scriptures for Every Trial: (There are thousands- find yours)

🩺 For Healing:

“By His stripes, I am healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

“He sent His Word and healed them.” – Psalm 107:20

“I will restore health to you and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.” – Jeremiah 30:17

💰 For Financial Lack:

“My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19

“The young lions lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” – Psalm 34:10

“The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” – Proverbs 10:22

🧘 For Anxiety and Mental Pressure:

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” – Isaiah 26:3

“Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

💔 For Family Division or Marriage Trouble:

“What God has joined together, let no one separate.” – Mark 10:9

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians 13:7-8

“A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:12

Don’t let your trial speak louder than your testimony.

Don’t let the enemy define the atmosphere.

You carry the final Word—because you carry the Word of God.

And when all else shakes, remember this:

“I am being kept by the power of God through faith.” – 1 Peter 1:5
That’s your anchor. That’s your defense. That’s your shout of victory.

Now—say it out loud... and say it like you mean it.🔥 Let the devil know who he’s dealing with.
