Shielded by the Favor of God — What Would You Do If You Knew You Couldn't Be Touched?

There’s an invisible war raging all around us—battles of favor and fear, breakthrough and resistance, healing and torment—and most people never even realize it. But the Word of God pulls back the curtain. It reveals what our natural eyes can’t see and anchors us in what is eternally true. We aren’t just reading a book when we open the Bible—we are stepping into another dimension, where heaven speaks and hell trembles. The promises in Scripture are not poetic wishes; they are living decrees from a supernatural God, and when believed, they change everything. One of those promises is this:
“Surely, Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.” — Psalm 5:12 (NIV)
The Word of God is not a typical book. It’s not bound by time, culture, or ink—it is living, breathing, and supernatural. It carries the very essence of God Himself. Scripture is full of wild, unimaginable stories: seas parting before a barefoot people (Exodus 14), fire falling from heaven to consume water-drenched altars (1 Kings 18), lions with mouths shut by angelic command (Daniel 6), the dead raised to life (John 11), and demons screaming as they flee the name of Jesus (Luke 8). These aren’t fairy tales—they’re spiritual realities that shattered natural laws.
And yet, most believers today live as if blind to the spiritual world. We read the stories but forget that same Word still breathes. It hasn’t weakened with time. It hasn’t lost its power. The truth is, if we could see into the supernatural realm—if our eyes were open to what’s happening around us spiritually—we would live radically different lives.

If you could see yourself right now—clothed in the full armor of God, surrounded by supernatural shields of favor, provision, healing, and angelic protection—how differently would you live? What fears would fall away? What bold moves would you finally make? If God pulled back the curtain between the visible and the invisible realms, revealing the spiritual reality around you, wouldn’t you be speechless? I know I would.
The truth is, that realm is just as real—even more real—than what we see with our natural eyes. And though we may not physically see it, we’ve been given something better: the Word. The Word is our lens. It reveals what’s hidden and activates what’s promised. So we don’t read the Bible casually—we read it with reverence, with hunger, with expectation. Every verse is an invitation to see deeper. And this one reminds us of what’s surrounding us, even now.
We would walk with the boldness of Elijah, who mocked the prophets of Baal because he knew who his God was. We’d pray like Elisha, who calmly said, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see,” and suddenly his servant saw fiery angelic armies surrounding them (2 Kings 6:17). We’d preach like Peter, once timid, now unshakable after receiving the Holy Spirit, declaring truth even under threat of death (Acts 2). We’d worship like Paul and Silas in a prison cell—chained but not silenced—because they knew their praise reached beyond the bars (Acts 16:25–26).
So how do we see like that? How do we tap into this unseen realm if our natural eyes are limited? Jesus answered this plainly:
“The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” — John 6:63

The Word of God is Spirit. That means every verse, every promise, and every command is a doorway into the supernatural. It’s not just something to study—it’s something to see through. The Bible isn’t just a book of encouragement; it’s a spiritual weapon, a mirror that reflects who you are in Christ, and a portal that reveals what’s happening behind the scenes.
Paul said, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7), and he meant it literally. The believer’s “sight” is through Scripture. Want to discern the battle over your family? Speak the Word. Want to understand why heaviness suddenly hit you? Check what the Word says about oppression and take authority. Want to partner with angelic help, resist the enemy, or release healing? Start with the Word. That’s your lens, your vision, your spiritual sight.
“For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword… it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” — Hebrews 4:12
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
“Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” — Psalm 119:18

In a world that runs on what it sees, hears, and feels, the believer must run on what is written. That is your source of truth. That is your favor shield. That is your access point into heaven’s resources. If you want to walk in the miraculous, if you want to stand firm while the world shakes, if you want to push back darkness instead of being crushed by it—you have to learn to see through the Word.
So let me ask you plainly: Are you looking into the Spirit? Not hoping. Not imagining. But looking—with eyes trained by truth, with boldness anchored in Scripture, with your senses sharpened by spiritual discipline. Because when you do, you’ll stop reacting to what’s around you and start responding from what’s within you.
You’ll move with confidence, not confusion—with fire in your heart, not fear in your steps. With the shield of favor wrapped around you and the sword of the Spirit gripped firmly in your hand, you’ll begin to live like someone who knows who they are and whose they are. And the only thing required of you is this: study the Word of God. That’s where your spiritual eyes open. That’s where your authority is built. Within its pages, you’ll find your healing—because Psalm 107:20 says,
“He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.”
You’ll find confirmation and proof of God’s promises, because Psalm 119:160 declares,
“The entirety of Your word is truth.”
You’ll find salvation, strength, and faith, because Romans 10:17 reminds us that
“faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
And you’ll find victory, just as Jesus did in the wilderness when He defeated the enemy with nothing but the written Word—saying again and again, “It is written.”

Everything you need—peace, direction, breakthrough, strength, endurance, provision—it’s all already written. But it won’t work as a closed book. You have to open it, consume it, believe it, speak it, and stand on it, even when circumstances scream the opposite. Because the moment you choose to align your mind, your mouth, and your decisions with the truth of Scripture, the supernatural realm begins to respond. Healing begins to flow. Fear begins to break. Chains begin to fall. And the favor of God, like Psalm 5:12 says, will surround you like a shield. This is not poetic fluff—it’s a spiritual reality.
So if you’re waiting for a sign, let this be it: open the Word and you open heaven. Your breakthrough doesn’t start when things look better. It starts the moment you choose to see differently—through the lens of the Word, through the eyes of your spirit, anchored in truth that can’t fail.
God has not left you exposed—He has surrounded you.
“My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart” (Psalm 7:10).
“Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but he who trusts in the Lord, lovingkindness shall surround him” (Psalm 32:10).
He doesn’t just defend with power—He shields with presence.
“Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him” (Proverbs 30:5).
So ask yourself: Who is shielding you? What is shielding you? Is it your income, your schedule, your strength—or is it the Lord?
“Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield” (Psalm 33:20).
That shield is not imaginary—it’s activated by faith.
“Take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” (Ephesians 6:16).

These words are not just encouragement—they are spirit. Jesus said, “The words I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) God has given you the ability to see into the spirit realm—through His Word. Don’t let your natural eyes control your day. Let your spirit, through the Spirit, be illuminated by truth. Look again. Open the Bible and ask for more than knowledge—ask for vision. Ask for a divine unveiling. Because once your spiritual eyes are opened, you’ll stop feeling surrounded by problems and start seeing that you’re surrounded by promises.
Father,
In the name of Jesus, I ask You to open my eyes. Help me to see what You've already provided—Your favor, Your angels, Your presence, Your power. Let me no longer walk by what I see, but by what You’ve spoken. Give me revelation, insight, and discernment in the Spirit. Let every verse come alive in me—piercing through doubt, fear, and blindness. Seal this understanding with the blood of Christ, and awaken me to the realm of victory that is already mine. Amen.
So I ask you now: Are you letting your physical eyes lead your day—or are you letting the Word open your spiritual ones to what you truly have? Because you are more surrounded than you think. And what surrounds you is not the threat—it’s the shield.
